Hello again!

My name is Andres Hinojosa, the founder of Dinner with a Chef. We are a Personal Chef company located in San Diego, CA.

This last week I was in Malibu, CA cooking for my clients for a week. In between lunch and dinner on Wednesday evening, I went up to the Serra Retreat, where I took the photo above.

As I started to ponder while looking over the Pacific Ocean, I reminded myself how truly blessed I am. Not only as a Chef, but as a husband, father, and person. I know there are so many Chefs and people that feel stuck where they are in life. Some might feel like they are less then. They might feel like they are not good enough, or can't accomplish something great in life and their career. There are others that might be dealing with health issues or relationship issues, and the troubles seem to continue to mount.

There are many Chefs that I know personally or that I am close to that have struggled immensely. Some that have literally had strokes on the line, or have had stress and anxiety caused heart issues. Or others, that are going through divorce and are paying child support and are up to their eyeballs in debt, all while living paycheck to paycheck in a job that they hate.

I can completely relate to so many of them. I have had my share of troubles in my life, just like anyone else. From my mother’s car accident when I was young, where I practically had to raise myself at the age of 13. To almost being evicted in the dead of winter in Chicago when my wife was pregnant with our firstborn. And let's not forget about the troubles that I encountered when I started my own business. Having to choose buying milk for my children or buying groceries to prep to sell at the farmers market, while maxing out credit cards just to put $5 worth of gas in my car.

But I am here to tell you that there is a brighter side. A side that no one can ever take away from you, and that is your willingness to push forward. Your fight, your drive, and your sheer guts! I know for a fact that we can overcome anything that life throws at us. But, the change does not happen in your circumstances. Nor does it happen when you get those "breaks" in life. Life will always throw you curve balls. It will always bring trials right to your door step. But it is your mindset that will give you the ability to conquer.

When your mindset changes your entire world changes. You start to become the person that God wants you to become! So, when life tells you that you are not good enough, tell life that you are, and believe it. When the naysayers say you can't, tell yourself that you can. You cannot control every circumstance in your life, but you can control how you look and approach every issue that you are facing!

I am so sick of seeing people believing what society says about them. The only reason why people believe it, is because they choose to. They choose not to believe in themselves and what they have to offer. They choose to doubt what they feel deep down inside!

I challenge every person reading this to picture themselves healthy, successful, and important. Start to change your mind set about yourself. Success takes a lifetime to accomplish, but guess what, so does failure. Make your life matter. Make it count! Push on and move forward with all your might. Set your mind on bigger and better things.

I promise you, that if you start to shift your mindset, you will start to see opportunities and big breaks come to you. The only reason why this will happen is because you will start to be able to see them, and have the courage to purse them!

Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.

I hope I was able to inspire all of you today! Please share this blog with any Chef or person you know that needs some inspiration, and let them know they are not alone. I wish the best for all of you!
