Welcome to a Diary of a Personal Chef...

Hello All!

My name is Andres Hinojosa, and I am the founder of Dinner with a Chef. We are a Personal Chef Company based in San Diego, CA.

I wanted to start a blog to give you the insight into the life of a Personal Chef. It is my passion to encourage more Chefs to see all the options available to them in this industry. I strive to give you the encouragement and motivation necessary to see other avenues that your talents can take you.

Being a Chef is challenging whether you are a Chef in a restaurant, hotel, or corporate setting. You work long hours, often too many to count! You are under constant stress from yourself and management to provide exceptional food, while looking at the bottom line. If you have a family, they often suffer as well. You are never home on Holidays or Weekends, and may sometimes miss your child's birthday! (Guilty of it)

To be a Chef is a tough life. Yes, we are passionate about what we do. But, it often goes unnoticed. We seldom receive praise for our craft, and when we do it is minimal. Now, I know what you are thinking, why am I so cynical? I'm not trying to be, I just want to state the truth that I saw in my own career. You see I too was in the grind. Getting paid a fraction of what I was worth and the hours I put in. It was hard, and it was sometimes difficult to push on. But the resilience of a Chef should never be underestimated. We persevere when no one else does. We care when no else does.

I don't know if any of this is resonating with you. If it isn't, I am very happy for you. If it is, please join me in seeing my life as a Personal Chef. I hope that my blog posts excite you, and give a new perspective on what else is out there for you. Being a Personal Chef for me has been incredibly fulfilling and gratifying. Sure, it is challenging at times, but the fulfillment I have from blessing peoples' lives through the natural talents God has given me is second to none. I could not go back to where I was at, and I hope I can help you see life on the other side.

I can't wait to continue to walk my journey with you all! Please share this blog with any Chef you know that is in the same place. I wish the best for all of you, and can't wait to see many Chefs join me in becoming Personal Chefs!
